1. Killarney National Park:
Located in County Kerry and covering an area of over 26,000 acres, Killarney
National Park is suitable for avid hikers and casual strollers alike. Whether you
are looking for a short scenic walk or an adventure that takes a few hours there
are a network of trails available that cater to all levels. Within the park you will
find beautiful woodlands, enchanting lakes, and magnificent waterfalls.
2. Glanageenty Woods:
Here you will find three walking trails that have been beautifully developed by the
landowners and opened to the public. The marked trails take you up a steep incline ranging from 4km to 9km in length. Along the routes you will find picnic tables and benches to be able to rest and take in the beauty.
3. The Gap of Dunloe:
Starting at Kate Kearney’s Cottage, you are able to choose between walking
along the road through the valley passing Black Lough or venturing to the top of Strickeen for stunning views. Although both trails are out and back routes 4.4km in length, if you choose to go by the road be mindful of cars, carts, and cyclists enjoying the beautiful surroundings as well.
