The Most Popular Family-Friendly Outdoor Activities in Ireland

With the scent of summer holidays on the horizon, have you thought how you’d like to spend time with your family this summer?

So what are the best family friendly outdoor activities in Ireland? We asked some of our customers and these are their answers in no particular order:

1: Dublin Zoo and The Phoenix Park:

We start with arguably the most popular family-friendly outdoor things to do in Ireland. Dublin Zoo, located in the vast Phoenix Park, is a fantastic destination for a family day out in Dublin’s heart. Hosting over 400 animals and opened since 1831, Dublin Zoo not only offers a glimpse into the lives of exotic wildlife but also educates visitors on global conservation efforts, making it a great educational experience for children. You can save 15% if you pre-book your tickets. The paths are pram-friendly and easy for kids to navigate, ensuring a stress-free visit for parents.

Phoenix Park at over 7.07km2 is one of the largest enclosed public parks in any capital city in Europe, it provides ample space for kids to play and explore. Families can enjoy biking, visiting historical sites, or spotting the wild deer that roam free. This park combines relaxation and learning opportunities in a natural setting, making it an ideal place to introduce children to the joys of playing in nature.

2: Avondale Walk Beyond the Trees, Co. Wicklow:

70km away from the Phoenix Park lies Avondale Forest Park. Set in the estate of Avondale House, the stunning birthplace of Charles Stewart Parnell. How long is the Avondale Treetop walk? This 1.4km walk 38mtrs above the forest will give you 360o degree views of Wicklow. And let’s not forget the giant slide! This location is perfect for a leisurely walk through nature and we’ve heard the café is so fabulous you could spend the whole day.
